Thanks to having spent close to twenty years as an expatriate, I speak English, Swedish with a funny accent, passable Thai, and I can order a cup of sweet Nescafe without milk in Greek.

Me and my Yorkshire Terrier are currently residents of Chania’s charmingly crumbling Old Town on the island of Crete in Greece. Living in a place where nothing happens until it’s ready to happen no matter how hard you push took some adjusting to for me after eight consecutive years in the almost supernaturally organized and efficient Singapore.

Crete wants to teach people to slow down and enjoy the moment. If that’s not a lesson you’re willing to learn, you’ll have a miserable time living here. I’m still somewhat in the process of learning this lesson and that’s what inspired me to write Change of Pace; my first novel.
